One my favourite in Iran! 1500 years old! No tickets, no tourist, no touts! It’s completely (eerily) quiet. Which just add to the surreality. U can self-drive. No need guide. Highly recommended!

Calm and quiet place
Don’t visit this place when it’s rainy. All the way will be muddy and you can’t walk. From outside it has a better view. No entrance fee.
Once a mighty Fortress next to the river. Today people start to move back in restored stone houses
Wow - this place is enormous! It is nice to wander around and see village houses within the grounds of the mud brick fortress. For some reason a new mosque has been built inside with different building materials and looks quite out of place.
Ghurtan Citadel-just a hour outside of Isfahan in Ghurtan a 1500 year old Citadel consisting of many mud houses. Now days 4 families live here. Many other are keeping their animals there. There is one sad thing though a part of the old mud houses was destroyed to build an enormous brick mosque.
Fantastic
Walking through its narrow alleys is like traveling to the past, beautiful citadel that is frozen in time.
