There are 2 prisons in a big garden, i don't suggest the political one, but one of them called Markove is the first modern prison in Iran which designed by a Russian architect. He considered Iranian architectural style and material in design of the prison. There are some old cars, some other stuff on exhibition. In the garden you can find 3 cafes with pleasant atmosphere.

Before visiting this place I had no idea about prison, just watched in movies. The negative energy of being prisoner affected me. I can feel their emotions, loneliness, thoughts and hopless. Fortunately, the garden reunion my feelings. The museum thoroughly explained what was happened in a part of time that I've never been there. By the way, I like the staff they are so kind and nice.

formerly called Qasr Prison, was the first central prison in Tehran. The prison is now shut down and is being visited by the public as the cultural, historical and artistic center of the country, under the name of the Garden of the Palace Museum, located on the highway of Shahid Sayyid Shirazi Highway. Qasr Prison was opened on December 11, 1308 by Reza Shah. The initial phase of the prison, which was inaugurated at that time, was 192 rooms with a capacity of 800 detainees. Later, and until the construction of Evin Prison in the forties, the prison was the only prison in the capital. During this period, the Palace of Prisons developed a lot. After the Islamic Revolution of Iran, this prison was a place of imprisonment for non-political prisoners. In 2004, this prison closed and municipality began to destroy parts of it. Eventually, in 1391, by the municipality it became the museum's garden, and on November 14, 1391, with the presence of the mayor of Tehran and a group of artists for public visitation, the opening ceremony was held.

The story of this place has been ingrained with names such as "Ghasr (Palace)", "Bostan (Garden)" and "Zendan (Prison)". At first, it was named "Bostan-e Khorramabad" (Khorramabad Garden) which had been laid on Gheytarieh course to the city of Ray beside Shemiran old road ravine. Then, following the construction of a luxurious building on it, it was named "Ghasr" (Palace) in 1798. About 130 years later foundations of the first Iranian modern prison were founded on the destructions of the "Ghasr" and its surrounding lands to be named as "Zendan-e Ghasr" (Palace Prison) in 1929. With the victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran and its brilliant achievements and based on Tehran cultural development plan during the management period of Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Tehran mayor, it was named "Bagh Muzeh-ye Ghasr" (Palace Garden Museum) in September 2012, to represent a part of the history and culture of the past two centuries of Iran.
