If you want to know about the US-Iran modern history after the iranian revolution, you must pay a visit to this former US embassy. The tour guide (Ali) will explain every detail of the place with a fulent english, persian and turkish. Thank you Mr.Ali... I would like to suggest for everyone to watch the 444days documentary available on youtube regarding the university students who occupied the embassy 10 months after the iranian revolution in 1979.

Extremely interesting place, brimming with history. As a Westerner, the tour offers a surprisingly (I know, I was stereotyping before I went) unbiased view of the entire student hostage situation in 1979. Museum is apparently private and not owned by the government. The shocking images seem to be there as a historical remembrance and I heard Americans visit the museum too. Go check it! The guide (Ali) was absolutely amazing! Great guy, fluent English and knows a lot about the history and all kinds of side trivia. Would recommend to just go and chat to him haha. Ask him about movies!

Be aware that the moment there are ongoing renovation works to prepare it as a proper museum, so you can see only 2 out of 6 rooms but still very interesting. There are free guides who explain you a bit the context and they are keen to get questions about anything and have a chat.

This place is great because it's emblematic of the schism that exists in the way the world views Iran. However, the museum itself is lacklustre. There are rooms where you can see old computers and type writers but not enough to actually warrant a visit inside. From anecdotal reports I've also heard that the museum's timings are subject to the whims of the guards although that wasn't the case for me.

Like the previous reviewer mentioned, it's a very small museum with all the equipment the US embassy left behind. Some propaganda posters spread around and an English tour at 2pm. 300,000 rials.. go if you enjoy something quirky..

The murals on the walls are really interesting. However, a visit inside is not that special.
