On 13 May 2014, the agreement for establishing the UNESCO Chair on Clean and Renewable Energies was concluded between the Islamic Azad University and UNESCO. Ms. Irina Bokova (UNESCO Director General) and Dr. Ali Abbaspour (SRBIAU Rector) both signed the agreement. The chair enjoyed the support and guidance of the UNESCO National Commission in the process of its establishment. With dedication of the UNESCO chair in SRBIAU, the university aims at becoming a centre for information circulation as well as a network for trading the skills and specialties tied to the field of environmental studies and renewable energies in the region.
